Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp gojuchang
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 package tteokbokki-tteok
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 carrot
  • sesame seeds, for garnish
  • scallions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. soak the tteobokki-tteok in warm water for 10-15 minutes
  2. while they are soaking, make the sauce with the gojuchang, garlic, mirin, soy sauce, and water
  3. add 1-2 tablespoons of oil to the pan and heat
  4. add chopped carrots and onions and cook on low (I leave them in bigger chunks to get some crunch)
  5. after 5 minutes add the sauce and stir, keep heat on low
  6. add the tteokbokki and cook for 10 minutes, until soft
  7. remove from heat, put in bowls, and add some sesame seeds as garnish
